Press Release
23 November 2001: M-Pack 1 WAV file processing toolbox for MATLAB®
now shipping
M-Pack
1, the first in our new M-Pack product line of audio-related
MATLAB® toolboxes is now shipping. M-Pack 1 is a collection
of MATLAB functions for processing (uncompressed PCM) WAV files
of arbitrary size, significantly extending the in-built WAV handling
capabilities of MATLAB. Key features include: support for arbitrary
bit resolution (between 2 and 32, including a distinction between
valid bits and container size); support for Microsoft's WAV_FORMAT_EXTENSIBLE
file format for multichannel (and high bit-depth) WAV files; option
to apply various forms of dithering when writing data to WAV files;
chunk-by-chunk (disk-based) WAV file effects processing; WAV file
sample rate conversion between all sample rates commonly used
in digital audio; WAV file playback (via the Windows default soundcard)
from within the MATLAB environment.
M-Pack
1 is a "conventional" MATLAB toolbox, in that it is
designed to be used wholly within the MATLAB environment (by contrast,
our WaveWarp Audio Toolbox for MATLAB provides a real-time audio
streaming interface to MATLAB from the outside).
Since
December 2000, Sounds Logical has been a member of the MATLAB
Connections Program, a world-wide group of companies providing
products and services based on the MATLAB technical computing
