Press Release September 12 2000: WaveWarp 2.0 now shipping

WaveWarp Version 2.0 featuring DirectX plugin functionality is now shipping. With version 2.0 you can now utilise the full power of WaveWarp's modular architecture to create completely customised DirectX plugins which work with many popular PC-based audio editors and sequencers (such as Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.0, Emagic Logic Audio, SEK'D Samplitude, Sonic Foundry Acid Pro, Vegas, and Sound Forge, the SAW family of sequencers from IQS, Steinberg's Cubase and Wavelab, Syntrillium CoolEdit Pro, Minnetonka MxTrax/Mx51, and more).

Check the following links for detailed information on WaveWarp's powerful new DirectX capabilities:

General Description of WaveWarp's DirectX plugin functionality

Using WaveWarp as a DirectX plugin to Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.0

Using WaveWarp as a DirectX plugin to Emagic Logic Audio Platinum 4.1

Using WaveWarp as a DirectX plugin to SEK'D Samplitude 2496

Using WaveWarp as a DirectX plugin to Sonic Foundry Acid Pro 2.0

In addition to the new DirectX support, Version 2.0 has the following new components:

1) Two spectral morphing components (one with a slider, the other dynamically-adjustable). Check the following links for detailed info:

2) New digital filter component for zero-latency FIR filtering.Check the following link for detailed info:

3) ADSR envelope generator with fully-customisable envelope profiles. Check the following link for detailed info:

ADSR Envelope Component Description

4) New audio threshold component for simple "signal gating". Check the following link for detailed info:

Audio Threshold Component Description

Version 2.0 also incorporates the following enhancements:

1) Support for all bit resolutions supported by the physical I/O devices (e.g. 8-, 16-, 18-, 20-, and 24-bit).

2) An integrated "Soundcard Manager" for convenient management of all physical I/O channels available to WaveWarp from all soundcards installed under Windows. Also includes the option for dual-mono mode of operation in addition to mono and stereo. See the following link for more information.

Description of WaveWarp Soundcard Manager

3) Full-text Java-based search capability across the entire documentation suite.

4) Various GUI usability improvements (such as the inclusion of "HotKeys", automated DrawingBoard convertors, etc).

5) Improved memory management and various bug fixes leading to improved stability.

With over 260 modular audio effect components for the low price of $199, that works out to 77 cents per effect, not to mention the infinite number of combinations available (if you include those, then mathematically speaking, you are getting each effect for free -- now thats not a bad deal!). If you don't need DirectX, multichannel I/O, multirate DSP, external digital filter interfacing, ASCII file I/O, or bundled MATLAB m-files, we offer an alternative Lite version for only $99. With many of the same effects as the full version, this works out to 40 cents per effect. (For the difference of $100, you can upgrade to the full version at any time).

WaveWarp is the ultimate tool for the sound designer, musician, audio engineer, researcher, or educator who demands complete creative control over the audio processing environment. Key features include:

* Object-oriented modular architecture with over 260 real-time DSP components running native on the PC under Windows 95/98/NT. No DSP hardware required. Check the following link for a list of all the modular processing components:

List of all WaveWarp Components

* Seamless integration with many popular audio editors and sequencers via the industry-standard DirectX plugin interface.

* Supports live audio input and playback via all Windows-compatible soundcards (with Wave drivers).

* Supports multiple soundcards with multiple channels (e.g. for building surround sound effects from scratch).

* Sample-by-sample execution of all components allowing arbitrary connections in series, parallel, feedforward, and feedback networks.

* Multirate engine supports "on-the-fly" integer-factor sample rate conversion between components, allowing the construction of elaborate multiband effects.

* Wide range of complete audio effect components plus basic building blocks including filters, delays, mixers, de-noisers, spectral transformers, signal generators, reverbs, phasers, flangers, chorus, modulators, dynamic range controllers, and many more.

* Controllable playback functionality for manipulating audio file playback pointers in real-time (e.g. for creating granular synthesisers from scratch).

* ASCII file interfaces for digital filters, wavetables, noise spectrum templates, envelope functions, etc, for importing off-line designs for total flexibility

* Digital displays, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analysers for elaborate signal visualisation.

* Supports 8-, 16-, 20-, 24-, and 32-bit WAV files of any sample rate.

* Supports 8-, 16-, 18-, 20-, and 24-bit WAVE device I/O of any sample rate supported by the soundcard(s).

* Internal 32-bit floating point precision for all signal processing calculations.

* Extensive HTML-based Users' Guide and Help files. Check the following link to preview the entire documentation set:

WaveWarp Documentation

* Wide range of Example DrawingBoards which you can use "as is" or as starting ponts for your own customised algorithms. Check the following link for a description of all the Example DrawingBoards:

List of Example DrawingBoards

* Bundled set of matlab m-files for convenient import/export of digital filters, wavetables, envelopes functions, etc.

Current registered users of version 1.2 are entitled to a free upgrade to version 2.0.
