LiveMultiInputMultiOutputDownsampledExample1_3
Description
Live Multi-Input Multi-Output Downsampled Example 1
Illustrates WaveWarp's live multi-input multi-output functionality and the multirate audio engine. Plug 4 instruments (e.g.
electric guitars, microphones, etc) into the 4 inputs of your souncard(s) and plug the 4 outputs of your soundcard(s) into
your external mixer/amplifiers/studio, and hit "Play". You will hear your live audio inputs routed through the effects (Flipper
and Panner) to the outputs. To record any or all of the outputs, simply connect up the appropriate number of output audio
files.
The factor of 10 downsampling before the effects drastically increases the efficiency of the DrawingBoard, since the effects
are only executed at a 10th of the input sample rate (i.e. 4410 Hz instead of 44100 Hz). For many audio sources (e.g.
electric guitars), this gives acceptable results owing to the limited bandwidth of such audio sources. Furthermore, for such
sources, simple down- and up-sampling is acceptable (as used here), though corrective filtering is recommended to avoid
"buzzing" due to imaging (hence the use of the IIR 2-pole low-pass filters after the simple up-samplers).
Try inserting some different effects (from the hundreds of WaveWarp components available!) between the inputs and the
outputs. For example, to mix the signals, simply insert a mixer component, etc.
