2.4-- Playing the DrawingBoard

In order to listen to the output of the DrawingBoard, locate the Transport Window (top, center, in Figure 1) which contains the usual "Play", "Stop", "Pause", and "Loop" buttons, as illustrated in Figure 2.

Click the "Play" button to listen to the output of the DrawingBoard. Click the "Stop" button to stop the playback and reset the playback engine to the beginning of all audio files. Click the "Pause" button to temporarily interrupt the playback without resetting the playback engine so that when you hit "Pause" again, the playback resumes from where it left off in all files.

If you do not hear anything when you click "Play", make sure that your audio device is not muted and that the volume is not set to zero (in hardware and/or software). If you still do not hear anything, make sure that your audio device is correctly installed with the appropriate software drivers for your Windows system (see section 1.1--).

Important note: it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you make sure that the audio output volume is set low before playing a WaveWarp DrawingBoard. This will protect your speakers in the event that you have unwittingly created a DrawingBoard with undesirable or loud sound outputs.

Hints:

1. All the transport controls in the Transport Window are also available via the main "Transport" menu.

2. As a convenient alternative to using the mouse, the main "Play" and "Stop" actions are achieved via the keyboard by successively pressing the <Space> bar, thereby toggling between "Play" and "Stop". Likewise, the "Pause/Resume" action is achieved via the HotKey sequence "Ctrl + <Space>". See section 2.29-- for more discussion on HotKeys.
