Do not abbreviate or Alter Mark or Create an Acronym
For example, do NOT use the following:
SL for Sounds LogicalTM
WW for WaveWarpTM
DB for WaveWarp DrawingBoardTM
Do Not Combine Our Marks with Those of Another Company
Wrong: "Sounds Logical VortexMaker software"
Correct:"Sounds Logical software for VortexMaker"
Set Off Marks from Ordinary Words
Example: the WaveWarp effects processing software
Use the Correct Symbols/Footnotes
Symbols:
® = the trademark or service mark is registered
TM = common law trademark or service mark is claimed
Sounds Logical policy is to use the ® symbol if the mark is registered in any international Patent and Trademark Office. The Sounds Logical trademark list indicates which trademarks are registered in any international Patent and Trademark Office.
Footnotes:
On all packaging, copyright pages, English language data sheets, press releases and internationally distributed collateral:
"_______ is either a registered trademark or trademark of Sounds Logical."
It is Sounds Logical policy that all Sounds Logical trademarks are footnoted whenever space allows. The footnote normally appears on the copyright page or on the last page of the material. Sounds Logical will also identify and footnote those trademarks of other companies where we have a contractual obligation. Trademark footnotes should always be complete sentences with registered trademarks listed first, followed by unregistered trademarks.
Product Packaging
Special attention should be devoted to the correct use of Sounds Logical trademarks on the product packaging. Sounds Logical trademarks and any Sounds Logical product names appearing on the package should be designated with the appropriate trademark symbol (® or TM) once on each side of the package the first time they appear, starting at the top of that side. Footnotes for Sounds Logical trademarks should also appear on the back of the package. Unless required by contract, no trademark symbols for non-Sounds Logical products need appear on the front or side panels of the package. However, such third-party trademarks that appear anywhere on the package should also appear in the copy on the back of the package. These third-party trademarks should not be footnoted on the packaging, unless the product is marketed by Sounds Logical or a footnote is required by a license agreement.
Slide Shows
When copy is written for an overhead presentation to the public or may be converted into hard copy for dissemination to resellers or end users, trademarks should be marked and footnoted. Sounds Logical trademarks should be marked and footnoted on overhead and disk demonstrations. When copy is written for a nonpublic presentation and will not be taken away in hard-copy form by viewers or publicly disseminated, the trademarks should be marked but need not be footnoted.
Books and Manuals
The titles of books and manuals should also use the full product name with the generic descriptors. Attribution to both Sounds Logical and third party trademarks that we are contractually obligated to attribute should be included on the copyright page.
